Welcome to House of Ink & Ruin.

These Terms of Service explain the rules that apply when you visit, browse, or shop through the House of Ink & Ruin website.

In these Terms, “House of Ink & Ruin,” “HIR,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to House of Ink & Ruin. “You” and “your” refer to anyone who visits or uses our website or purchases our products.

Our website and online store are hosted by Shopify, which provides the technology that allows us to offer our products and services to you.

By using our website, placing an order, or otherwise using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service and the policies linked from them, including our Privacy Policy and Returns & Refunds Policy.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our website or place an order.

1. USING THE WEBSITE

House of Ink & Ruin is intended for customers who are at least 18 years old.

When you use our website or place an order, you agree to provide information that is accurate, current, and complete.

If you create an account with us, you are responsible for keeping your login information secure and for activity that occurs through your account.

Please do not use another person's account, impersonate another person, or provide information that is intentionally false or misleading.

2. OUR PRODUCTS

We make every effort to provide accurate descriptions, photographs, measurements, and other information about our products.

Because some House of Ink & Ruin products are handmade, handcrafted, vintage-inspired, or produced in small batches, slight variations in color, texture, finish, appearance, or other details may occur.

These variations are part of the nature of handmade products and do not necessarily indicate a defect.

Product colors may also appear somewhat different depending on your device, screen, or display settings.

We reserve the right to:

  • Change product descriptions or details

  • Discontinue products

  • Limit quantities

  • Change available product selections

  • Correct errors or inaccuracies

We will make reasonable efforts to keep product information current and accurate.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable law.

3. ORDERS

When you place an order through House of Ink & Ruin, you are submitting a request to purchase the products in your order.

An order is not considered accepted until we have processed the order and sent you an order confirmation.

We reserve the right to refuse, limit, or cancel an order when reasonably necessary, including when:

  • A product is unavailable

  • There is an obvious pricing or listing error

  • We believe an order contains fraudulent or unauthorized activity

  • We are unable to fulfill the order

  • An order violates these Terms

If we cancel or change an order after you have placed it, we will contact you using the information provided with your order and refund any amount we charged for products that were not fulfilled.

Order Changes & Cancellations

Because some House of Ink & Ruin products may be prepared or made specifically for an order, please contact us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order.

We can generally accommodate cancellation or change requests made within 15 minutes of placing an order.

After that point, we may already have begun preparing your order and may not be able to make changes or provide a cancellation.

Please see our Returns & Refunds Policy for information about returns after an order has been received.

4. PRICES & PAYMENT

Prices displayed on our website are the prices in effect when you place your order unless otherwise stated.

Prices may change at any time, but a price change will not affect an order that has already been accepted.

Applicable sales tax and shipping charges will be shown during checkout.

Promotions, discounts, and special offers may have additional terms and may be limited by availability or time.

You agree to provide accurate and complete billing and payment information when placing an order.

By submitting payment information, you represent that you are authorized to use the payment method provided.

5. SHIPPING & DELIVERY

We currently ship to addresses within the United States.

Processing and delivery times shown on our website or at checkout are estimates and are not guaranteed delivery dates.

Orders may take additional time to process during launches, holidays, high-volume periods, or when products are handmade or made to order.

Once your order has shipped, we will provide tracking information when available.

We are not responsible for delays caused by shipping carriers, weather, natural disasters, service interruptions, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

If your package is marked as delivered but you cannot locate it, please first check your delivery location, mailbox, household, and surrounding area. If you still cannot locate the package, contact us and we will do our best to help.

Please make sure your shipping address is correct before completing your order.

If you need to change your shipping address, contact us within 15 minutes of placing your order. We cannot guarantee that an address change can be made after that time.

6. RETURNS & REFUNDS

Our Returns & Refunds Policy explains when returns, refunds, and exchanges are available.

Please review that policy before making a purchase.

Among other things, our policy distinguishes between unused eligible merchandise and products that have been opened, used, or burned.

Change-of-mind returns are not accepted for candles or other products that have been opened, used, burned, or otherwise altered.

If a product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us so we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Our Returns & Refunds Policy is incorporated into these Terms.

For New York customers, our refund policy is made accessible as required for online retailers. New York law requires online retailers to disclose whether refunds are offered and the conditions that apply, including time limits, proof of purchase, treatment of sale merchandise, and applicable fees.

7. CANDLES & HANDCRAFTED PRODUCTS

House of Ink & Ruin candles and other handcrafted products are made in small batches.

Small variations in appearance are normal and may include differences in color, texture, surface finish, or other characteristics.

These variations are not necessarily defects.

Candle Safety

Candles are products that involve an open flame and must be used responsibly.

Always follow the candle-care and safety instructions provided with your product and on the applicable product page.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Keep burning candles away from children, pets, flammable materials, drafts, and anything that could catch fire.

Use candles only as directed.

If you believe a candle is defective, damaged, or behaving unexpectedly, discontinue use and contact us.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Everything on the House of Ink & Ruin website, including our name, logos, branding, original artwork, photographs, written content, product names, graphics, designs, and other original materials, belongs to House of Ink & Ruin or is used with permission.

Our content may not be copied, reproduced, modified, distributed, sold, or used commercially without our written permission.

You may view, save, or share our content for personal, non-commercial purposes when appropriate, provided that you do not remove ownership notices or imply that the content belongs to you.

The House of Ink & Ruin name, logos, product names, slogans, and original designs may be protected by applicable trademark, copyright, or other intellectual property laws.

Third-party names, brands, and trademarks appearing on our website belong to their respective owners.

House of Ink & Ruin is powered by Shopify, which provides the technology used to operate our online store.

Your purchases are made directly from House of Ink & Ruin, not from Shopify.

Shopify is not responsible for the products we sell, the fulfillment of our orders, or disputes between you and House of Ink & Ruin relating to a purchase.

Your use of Shopify-powered portions of our website may also be subject to Shopify's applicable terms and policies.

11. REVIEWS, FEEDBACK & CUSTOMER CONTENT

We love hearing from readers and customers.

If you voluntarily submit a review, photograph, suggestion, comment, idea, or other content to House of Ink & Ruin, you represent that you have the right to share it.

By submitting content to us, you grant House of Ink & Ruin permission to use, reproduce, display, and share that content for purposes related to operating and promoting the House, including on our website and social media.

We may choose whether or not to publish submitted content.

We will not knowingly represent your submitted content as something created by House of Ink & Ruin when it was created by you.

We reserve the right to correct errors and update information when we discover them.

We may also update products, prices, descriptions, availability, and other website information from time to time.

We do not guarantee that every piece of information on the website will always be completely current or free from error.
